Hopps was founded in 2007 by Jahmal Williams, a Massachusetts native who has been a professional skateboarder since the early 1990's.

Jerry Fowler's history as a professional skateboarder also dates back to the 1990's. During a good portion of that time, Jahmal and Jerry rode for the same company and skated together in the city of Boston.
